Most visa-required foreign nationals travelling to Nigeria for eligible short-visit purposes may apply for a Nigeria e-Visa, but ECOWAS nationals and visa-exempt nationals generally do not need an e-Visa.
The clearly excluded groups are:
- ECOWAS nationals, because they generally enjoy visa-free entry under ECOWAS free movement arrangements.
- Nationals of countries with visa abolition or waiver agreements with Nigeria, because they may not need a visa. For example , Saint Kitts and Nevis, Chad and Cameroon have visa abolition agreements with Nigeria and hence visitors from these countries don’t need a visa to enter Nigeria
- Applicants whose nationality, purpose of visit, or visa class requires embassy processing instead of e-Visa processing.
The requirement for applying for a Nigeria e-Visa are:
- Valid passport with at least 6 months’ validity.
- CAC certificate of the inviting Nigerian company.
- Passport-size photo.
- Invitation letter from the inviting company.
- Evidence of return ticket.
- Hotel reservation or host address in Nigeria.
The business e-Visa permits short business activities such as meetings, conferences, seminars, training, contract negotiation, marketing, sales, procurement, trade fairs, and job interviews, but it does not permit employment in Nigeria.

The official Landing and Exit Card portal allows travellers to select Arrival for a landing card or Departure for exit verification, enter visa/passport details, verify information, and print confirmation for presentation at checkpoints.
